I was gonna do a deep dive in this subject as requested but I decided I would just mention some things to think about.
I'm not saying never drink, I AM saying at least know how it is impacting your fitness goals. I do drink, but if I am in comp prep or have a specific goal alcohol is not even a thought. Not for my birthday, a friends wedding, literally not one drop.
Alcohol is 100% slowing down the process towards your goals and here are some basics why;
Alcohol is a poison. Your body's top priority is to process the alcohol before anything else which means it slows down every other process.
It stays in your system longer than just the next day hangover, up to 72 hours.
It urges you to make food choices that do not support your goals.
It's dehydrating.
It's an energy sucker.
You might pass out initially but your sleep will be disrupted.
Next day you have alcohol bloat, and your gut is upset. Now you again need to make "off plan" food choice to please your upset stomach.
You're likely not going to the gym next morning after a drinking session.
Things I know to be crucial for fitness goals are sleep/recovery, nutrition/water and exercise. None of these pair well with alcohol.
Just somethings to think about.
