This is a statement that simply is not true. Eating clean or healthy has so many different interpretations based on individual lifestyle. Clean/healthy could mean vegetables and organic to one person or not going through a drive through instead cooking at home for another. So we can't really get caught up in these buzz words.
Eating in a deficit is what will aid you in losing weight. You can eat clean, healthy, whole foods and still gain weight. It's not always the foods we choose, most times it's the portion we consume. Focus on how you feel after eating certain foods, allow yourself to blend lifestyle with nutrition. It's not one or the other. It's also not about balance, that implies we are juggling between 2 ideas. It's about blending our current lifestyle with nutrition that supports our goals.
If you want sustainable weight loss, live in the middle not extremes.
